North Carolina Game Development Conference Rebrands to Reflect Growth, Broadened Audience
RALEIGH, N.C., Dec. 14, 2019 -- The Triangle Game Conference today unveiled a new name and logo for the annual East Coast event serving professionals working in the interactive entertainment and serious game industries. To better align with its growing audience and reach, the conference is changing its name to the East Coast Game Conference (ECGC).
ECGC also today announced its call for speaker submissions to lead panels, lectures and roundtable sessions at its third annual conference April 13-14, 2020 to be held at the Raleigh Convention Center. The call for submissions will close Friday, January 21, 2020.
"We are excited to be approaching this year's conference with a fantastic lineup of educational tracks and a fresh name and look," said John Austin, Conference Chairperson. At the conference's inception, our mission was to provide a platform for the Raleigh-Durham region's growing community of interactive entertainment companies and professionals. Following the inaugural two years of the conference, it became clear there was serious investment being made in the future of our state's game development and digital media industry, which broadened our perspective - reaching far beyond the Triangle region of North Carolina."
"When economic incentives were introduced for North Carolina digital media companies this year, a new light was cast on our state's industry," added Wayne Watkins, project manager, Wake County Economic Development. "The name change reflects the conference's commitment to the state's growing interactive entertainment industry and the professionals that enable it to flourish."
Under the theme, Engage and Connect, speaker session submissions are being accepted online in the following three tracks, each with a specific audience: the first targeting technologists and artists developing games; the second focused on individuals working with advanced learning technologies; and the third on the business of making games:
1.Game Development - Developers, artists, producers and designers are invited to share algorithms, engines, technology, techniques and best practices that today's game companies must cultivate to create immersive, engaging entertainment product. We particularly invite submissions on game technology for Android and iOS games.
2.Advanced Learning and Visual Simulation - We invite submissions on serious games, virtual worlds, social networks and other immersive technology that are used to inspire, educate and train the "next-gen" workforce, as well as game technologies and applications used for simulation and training in government, military and health care.
3. Business of Games and Media Convergence - "Gamification" is the hot topic as social networks, immersive media and innovative marketing converges with games. We invite submissions that discuss industry trends, emerging business models, international business opportunities, the impact of the economic recession and other topics relevant to executives and studio owners small and large.
